The Governor of Lemhannas RI, Dr. H. TB. Ace Hasan Syadzily, M.Si, attended the post-Eid al-Fitr gathering (Halalbihalal) organized by the Alumni Corps of the Islamic Student Association (KAHMI) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah with the Ciputat Branch of the Islamic Student Association (HMI) at the Nurcholish Madjid Training Centre (NMTC) on Sunday (4/26). This event, themed “Serving the Nation to Build a Civilized Golden Indonesia,” generated momentum to strengthen bonds and reaffirm HMI cadres' and alumni's commitment to their cause.

During the dialogue session, the Governor of Lemhannas RI stated that Lemhannas RI is a strategic state institution and serves as a symbol of intellectual leadership. He said that the position of Governor of Lemhannas RI is an important and strategic one within the state’s structure.

The Governor of Lemhannas RI also noted that “Golden Indonesia 2045” greatly depends on how HMI members capitalize on the demographic advantage. “Golden Indonesia 2045 depends on us; it depends on what HMI wants for Indonesia. The demographic advantage is an opportunity for our nation to become a developed country,” he remarked. He also cautioned that Indonesia will not be able to repeat the history of civilizational progress and advance as a nation if this momentum is not properly harnessed, especially before entering the phase of an aging society.

In addition, the Governor of Lemhannas RI highlighted the challenges posed by technological disruption, which is influencing the mindset of the younger generation, or Gen Z. The tendency toward instant gratification and a lack of a culture of literacy are seen as potentially weakening intellectual capacity.

“I want to challenge our intellectual awareness, because it is the fundamental basis of a nation’s civilization,” the Governor of Lemhannas RI firmly stated. He hopes that HMI members will no longer debate elementary issues but instead foster academic debates about the future of civilization. (IS/CHP/DA)
