News & Article Thursday, 13 February 2025, 14:00The Deputy Governor of Lemhannas RI, Lieutenant General TNI Eko Margiyono, led a delegation from the Deputy for Strategic Studies to East Java Province to conduct an in-depth study on "Optimization of Refining Governance and Metal Purification Services to Secure Mineral Asset Control in Strengthening National Natural Resource Sovereignty."
Held on January 6 and 7, 2025, the delegation had the opportunity to directly visit PT Untung Bersama Sejahtera (UBS Gold) and the Antam Gold Boutique in Surabaya, as well as the PT Freeport Indonesia smelter in Gresik Regency.
Lemhannas RI's study aims to formulate policies that optimize natural resource management to strengthen the sovereignty of national wealth and support sustainable economic development. The visit to East Java is part of Lemhannas RI’s efforts to explore the gold refining and processing industry to develop strategies for governance optimization, enhancing economic value, and reinforcing national natural resource sovereignty.
As widely recognized, gold refining and smelting play a crucial role. The refining process not only ensures gold quality and purity but also significantly contributes to strengthening the national economy, particularly through increasing the added value of mineral-based products. Enhancing gold refining capabilities will boost the competitiveness of national products and support sustainable economic growth.
To maximize added value and mineral asset control, Lemhannas RI continues to explore efficient governance strategies for metal purification. The visit is expected to provide firsthand insights into the operational aspects of purification processes, quality control mechanisms, and industry challenges related to regulations, international standards, and ethical supply chains.
