The Dr. H. TB. Ace Hasan Syadzily, Governor of Lemhannas RI, delivered a lecture to participants of the  Consolidation Program for National-level Leaders (P3N) Batch XXVII at the Dwi Warna Purwa Room on Monday (2/9). Ace emphasized that Lemhannas RI serves as a crucible for shaping future national leaders.

Founded by President Soekarno, Lemhannas RI integrates civilian and military components to foster shared perspectives in facing national challenges, reflecting the first president’s vision of leaders who understand the importance of geopolitics. In line with this, P3N participants are expected to develop a deep understanding of global geopolitical dynamics to strengthen national resilience.

At Lemhannas RI, participants are encouraged to become leaders with strong national character. Governor of Lemhannas RI highlighted that the institute promotes networking, collaboration, and moving beyond sectoral ego, saying: “Lemhannas encourages networks built across various elements to share a common perspective on current global situations, and we hope participants here can think out of the box.”

He noted that the world is currently facing an era of instability and uncertainty, including great power rivalries, reciprocal tariff wars, global dominance, China’s Belt and Road Initiative, ASEAN conflicts, technological disruption, demographic shifts, climate change, and natural disasters, all of which impact national conditions. In response, Indonesia needs strong national resilience as the foundation of the state.

National resilience allows a nation to address and overcome threats, disturbances, obstacles, and challenges from both external and internal sources, ensuring identity, integrity, survival, and the pursuit of national goals. “We want to achieve our future vision, vision of what i want such as making forward-looking decisions, anticipating the future, analyzing the present, and planning and executing strategic steps to reach it,” said The Govenor.

The governor outlined key leadership competencies expected of national leaders: strategic analysis, strategic decision-making and planning, change management, diversity management, listening skills, collaboration, and leadership development. These competencies, he said, are crucial for building national resilience.

In closing, Ace stressed that a leader must not only have great vision and strategy but also communicate effectively. “You may have a great vision and the right strategy, but if you cannot communicate it well, it will not succeed,” he concluded. (SP/CHP/MDF)
