Governor of Lemhannas RI: Teachers Are the Key to National Resilience

“Teachers play a strategic role and possess the strongest fundamental capacity in improving the quality of human resources,” said the Governor Lemhannas RI, Dr. H. TB. Ace Hasan Syadzily, M.Si. He delivered this statement at the 4th National Congress (Munas IV) of the Indonesian Teachers Association (IGI) in 2026 on Friday (16/1), held at the Mercure Convention Center Ancol, Jakarta. Furthermore, the Governor of Lemhannas RI emphasized that teachers are the primary element in education. Therefore, they also play a major role in national resilience, as the key to national resilience lies in the extent to which a nation possesses high-quality human resources.

According to the Governor of Lemhannas RI, national resilience is not built solely on military strength, but is determined by the quality of a nation’s human resources. The quality referred to is not limited to academic competence, but also includes character building and the strengthening of national ideology. The Governor views teachers as key figures in reinforcing the nation’s ideological steadfastness, which in turn influences national resilience.

Current geopolitical challenges require an independent and strong nation. To achieve this, comprehensive development from upstream to downstream is necessary, including through education. “Teachers today determine the direction of Indonesia, because it is in your hands, through your guidance, that the architects of Indonesia’s future civilization will emerge to bring about Indonesia Emas 2045.” he stated. Therefore, the nation’s great hopes rest on teachers who educate and shape the character of the nation toward Indonesia Emas 2045.

On that occasion, the Governor invited all IGI administrators and members to continue strengthening national values. He urged teachers not to focus solely on academics while neglecting the spirit of nationalism in shaping the character of future generations. He therefore stressed the importance of embedding national values in the younger generation.

Concluding his remarks, the Governor quoted General Soedirman, who said that every teacher is a warrior paving the way toward the future. He expressed hope that IGI’s administrators and members would continue to advance and contribute to the progress of education. (NA/CHP/MDF)
