The Governor of Lemhannas RI, Dr. H. TB. Ace Hasan Syadzily, M.Si., received a visit from the Center for International Relations Studies (CIReS) and representatives of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF) Japan regarding the upcoming Regional Security Dialogue Symposium, which will involve military personnel and academics from Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Singapore. The symposium is scheduled to take place on February 9–10 in the Governor’s Reception Room on Thursday (1/8) at Lemhannas RI. The visit was led by the Head of the Department of International Relations at Universitas Indonesia, Broto Wardoyo, Ph.D.
On that occasion, Broto Wardoyo invited the Governor of Lemhannas RI, Dr. H. TB. Ace Hasan Syadzily, M.Si., to deliver a keynote speech titled “Geopolitical Shifts in Southeast Asia: Navigating Strategic Uncertainty” at the Regional Security Dialogue Symposium, which will bring together military personnel and academics from Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Singapore. The symposium is designed as a pilot initiative toward developing a regional platform for dialogue on security and defense issues.
The keynote speech is expected to set the intellectual and strategic direction for high-level dialogue and expert exchanges. The Governor of Lemhannas RI has been requested to address geopolitical dynamics in the maritime region, covering not only military aspects but also supply chains, undersea capabilities, particularly in research, and the technologies employed.
The Governor of Lemhannas RI welcomed the visit and hope that the upcoming symposium would strengthen Indonesia’s role in regional security dialogue in Southeast Asia. “Lemhannas RI’s involvement in this symposium is part of efforts to promote the exchange of ideas on regional security and defense issues, while also supporting the development of more structured regional dialogue initiatives in the future,” said Broto Wardoyo.
Also present at the meeting were Sasakawa Peace Foundation Research Fellow Takahashi Ayuko, CIReS International Relations (IR) UI Researcher Nida Rubini, M.Si., and a lecturer from the Department of International Relations of The University of Indonesia. (SF/SP/CHP/MDF).
