Batch 69 P4N Participants Study Japan's Food Security on Overseas Trip

The Governor of Lemhannas RI, Dr. H. TB. Ace Hasan Syadzily, M.Si., accompanied several participants of the Overseas Strategic Study (SSLN) for the 69th Batch of the Preparation and Consolidation Education for National-level Leaders (P4N) of Lemhannas RI to Japan from June 8 to 10, 2026.

Through the SSLN program, participants are expected to develop heightened sensitivity and broader horizons regarding developments in regions that have a strategic impact on Indonesia. Furthermore, the implementation of the SSLN is also expected to provide valuable insights into the dynamics and prospects of bilateral relations and cooperation between Indonesia and the destination country, ultimately aimed at enhancing national development.

The itinerary began with a visit to the Tokyo University of Agriculture (Tokyo NODAI), Setagaya Campus. The participants attended a presentation on "The History of Academic Collaboration between Institutes in Indonesia and Tokyo NODAI" delivered by Prof. Dr. Rie Miyaura, Director of the Center for Global Initiatives (CGI). This was followed by a session on "Regional Food Security: The Nutritional and Social Roles of School Lunch Systems in Japan" presented by Registered Dietitian Professor Tada Yuki, Ph.D.

The visit then continued to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), allowing the delegation to gain a comprehensive understanding of Japan's agricultural policies and food security strategies. Following this, the participants visited the National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS) to delve deeper into Japan's perspectives on security and defense.

The series of activities in Japan concluded with an official visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Tokyo. The delegation was warmly and directly received by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Japan, Her Excellency Dr. Nurmala Kartini Pandjaitan Sjahrir. (ZA/CHP/DA)
