Lemhannas RI Welcomes Lampung University Civics Students on Academic Visit

The academic community of the Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKN) Study Program of the University of Lampung (Unila) visited Lemhannas RI on Thursday (7/9).

“As students in the PPKN program, they play a strategic role as the intellectual generation that will contribute to national and global governance,” the Domestic Cooperation Coordinator, Sulis Marwiyani Fatkhan, S.H., M.Sc., stated in her remarks while receiving the delegation at the Gadjah Mada Auditorium in the Pancagatra Building at Lemhannas RI.  This visit is expected to facilitate knowledge transfer and provide an opportunity for discussion, exchange of ideas, and fostering of leadership and nationalism.

The event proceeded with a presentation by Sigit Hardjanto, S.H., M.H., a Senior Lecturer on National Resilience at Lemhannas RI, titled “National Resilience in the Hands of Generation Z.” National resilience essentially has two complementary facets: first, as the tangible resilience and tenacity of the nation today in facing various dynamics; and second, as a conceptual framework for governing national life based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.

For Generation Z, which numbers more than 74 million in Indonesia, this concept must go beyond textbooks. Given Gen Z’s unique characteristics—including short attention spans and high daily internet usage—the approach to understanding the nation must transform to remain critical and resistant to misinformation and polarization in the digital sphere.

Furthermore, Unila’s Civic Education students are equipped with a comprehensive analytical framework known as Astagatra, or the eight aspects of national life. This framework divides national resilience into the “trigatra” (three natural aspects)—geography, demography, and natural resources—and the “pancagatra” (five social aspects)—ideology, politics, economy, socio-culture, and defense and security.

On campus and in daily life, the gatra most closely related to and frequently encountered by students are ideology, sociocultural aspects, and defense and security. Air First Marshal Sigit also emphasized that national defense today is about how students can maintain integrity in the digital public sphere, respect differences, obey the law, and show concern for their surroundings.

All of these points ultimately converge on strengthening the four fundamental national consensuses that form the cornerstone of Indonesia: Pancasila as the state ideology, the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia as the constitution, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) as the framework of a sovereign state, and “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” as the unifying principle of socio-cultural diversity. Moving towards Indonesia Emas 2045, Gen Z will become the primary driving force behind national leadership.

The visit to Lemhannas RI emphasized that national resilience is rooted in the personal qualities of each citizen, as a strong nation is built upon individuals of strong character. Three personal foundations were highlighted for all students to strengthen: visionary leadership, integrity in aligning words with actions, and character grounded in morality and ethics. Through these interactive discussions and exchanges of ideas, the delegation from the Civic Education (PPKN) Study Program of the University of Lampung is expected to return with a new perspective: that national resilience is a dynamic collective effort, in which Indonesia’s sovereignty on the global stage will remain firmly in the hands of a young generation that is aware, caring, and bold enough to take action.
