Lemhannas RI Outlines Global Geopolitical Dynamics to Pamulang University's Academics

Major General (Ret.) Dr. Kup Yanto Setiono, M.A., a professional geostrategy expert at Lemhannas RI, delivered a presentation on global geopolitical dynamics as a strategic challenge for Indonesia. The lecture took place during a visit by Pamulang University's academic community from the Pancasila and Civic Education Study Program at the Gajah Mada Auditorium on Wednesday (6/3).

The discussion focused on the current global geopolitical landscape, which indicates instability, and on mapping future trends and global scenarios. It also addressed the direction of Indonesia's strategic policy amidst these challenges. "Do not become a nation that is easy to predict or influence. Strive to be a strong nation—the ultimate goal is to become one,” stated Dr. Kup Yanto.

Facing various strategic challenges, Dr. Kup Yanto emphasized the importance of students possessing an Archipelagic Outlook (Wawasan Nusantara) to understand how to position Indonesia within the context of global geopolitics. To project global strength, Indonesia must focus on education and character development to cultivate human resources who are smart and possess strong character.

The Indonesian nation's current task is to develop human resources with strong character, a nationalistic spirit, and a mindset dedicated to developing the country. Lemhannas RI was noted as one of the institutions capable of shaping such character-driven national leaders.

Furthermore, Dr. Kup Yanto elaborated on the four pillars of Indonesia's diplomatic strategy: the hedging strategy, multilateral diplomacy, peace diplomacy, and the "a thousand friends, zero enemies" strategy. Understanding and strengthening each of these dimensions is key to facing increasingly complex challenges and solidifying Indonesia's resilience. "National resilience is crucial. Therefore, we must help these students understand that national resilience is a strategy that must involve the nation's youth. What aspects need to be developed? It is about understanding our ideology. Understand that the principles of Pancasila are the true foundation of our state and cannot be altered by anyone,” Dr. Kup Yanto concluded. (SF/CHP/DA)
