Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Academics Conduct Visit to Lemhannas RI

The National Resilience Institute of the Republic of Indonesia (Lemhannas RI) received a visit from the academic community of the Civic Education Program of the Indonesia University of Education (UPI) Bandung on Monday (6/8). The visit provided an opportunity for the students to gain a deeper understanding of the importance of national resilience and the role of citizens in resolving the various challenges confronting the nation in the era of globalization.

During the visit, Major General (Ret.) Dr. Kup Yanto Setiono, the Professional Expert in Geostrategy and National Vigilance of Lemhannas RI, delivered a presentation titled "Strengthening National Resilience Through the Manifestation of State Defense Commitment." He explained that national resilience represents a nation's tenacity and toughness when facing threats, disturbances, obstacles, and challenges from within and outside the country. It is a crucial factor in ensuring the survival of the Indonesian nation amidst increasingly complex and uncertain global dynamics.

Dr. Setiono also reminded the audience that current threats to the nation are not limited to military aspects. Technological advancements have given rise to new challenges such as disinformation, radicalism, cyberattacks, and the misuse of artificial intelligence, all of which can disrupt social and political stability. Therefore, collective awareness from all elements of society is required to maintain and strengthen national resilience.

During the event, he emphasized that state defense is not solely the responsibility of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri), but rather a right and obligation of all citizens. Citizens can contribute to state defense in various ways according to their profession and field, ranging from education and economics to technology. He believes that every citizen contributes to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and future.

Major General (Ret.) Dr. Kup Yanto Setiono, M.A., stated that strengthening national resilience requires the active involvement of all elements of society, not just the government. "Citizens must be part of the state system we are building," he stated. This statement reaffirms that every individual is responsible for contributing to national development and preserving the unity and cohesion of the nation.

On that occasion, he also encouraged students to play a tangible role in addressing the challenges of the times. Equipped with their academic capabilities, the younger generation is expected to provide solutions and innovations that positively impact society. "This is our work too, not just the government's; this is what it means to be an agent of change," he asserted.

Through this event, students are expected to gain a deeper understanding that national resilience cannot be realized without the active participation of citizens. They are encouraged to understand this concept, improve their personal competencies, preserve the nation’s diversity, use technology wisely, and foster the spirit of state defense in their daily lives.
